It looks like Ben Affleck has read some of the advanced reviews of Batman v Superman and he’s not exactly taking it so well
“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” has had comic book fans chomping at the bits in anticipation of these two iconic superheroes on screen beating the crap out of each other. By putting Batman and Superman together, and even even pitting them against each other, DC Comics is trying to find some of the magic that Marvel has been experiencing over the past few years bringing together the Marvel characters like Iron Man, Captain America, The Hulk and more to create a list of box office goldmines.
Somehow it seems as if DCs attempt to do the same with two of their biggest characters is falling flat and it looks like Ben Affleck knows it. With BvS DoJ set to release later today, Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill are doing the usual rounds and pre-movie junket to build up some hype. Cavill’s doing his best but Affleck can’t even seem to fool himself that this movie is going to be any good. Or maybe he’s just thinking he should have taken more up front and less of the back end.
That’s about as bad as you can feel for a Hollywood star that has a freaking movie coming out within 24 hours without someone dying.
“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice”, which is set to be released tomorrow, has so far been panned by the critics. It currently has a 31% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes.
In one of the more positive reviews, The Independent’s Geoffrey Macnab praised the cast and initial build up, yet said how “in the final reel, the film begins to unravel”. The Guardian’s Andrew Pulver was equally content with the film, saying “all in all, job done, just about.”
Conversely, The Telegraph’s self-confessed Man of Steel fan Robbie Collin tore into its sequel, stating “No major blockbuster in years has been this incoherently structured”. Forbes’ resident superhero aficionado Scott Mendelson was also less positive about the film, describing how the convoluted plot “will hurt your brain”. Independent
Can someone just edit out Henry Cavill from this interview and have the questions being asked followed only by Affleck’s awkward silence?
