Why We’re Shutting Off Our Comments

A politically motivated, decades-long war on expertise has eroded the popular consensus on a wide variety of scientifically validated topics. Everything, from evolution to the origins of climate change, is mistakenly up for grabs again. Scientific certainty is just another thing for two people to “debate” on television. And because comments sections tend to be a grotesque reflection of the media culture surrounding them, the cynical work of undermining bedrock scientific doctrine is now being done beneath our own stories, within a website devoted to championing science.

That’s right folks, we live in a time (and country) where a scientific magazine gets so many comments “debating” science facts that it’s decided to just turn off the ability to comment completely rather than deal with these morons.

Something is terribly wrong when people who willfully spread misinformation and doubt are not only tolerated but given equal time to discuss their baseless points of view. Out of all the things that we need to work on and fix in this country, this is the most depressing.

  1. Loons, nothing but loons who want nothing more than to increase the slave labor force by continuing the dumbing down of America and polluting the gene pool but to what end you might ask???? To ensure that when the aliens do come they will have both a food source and labor force and with luck not induce the wealthy to become part of either!!!!!!!!!
